Blush Horizon de Chanel Soft Glow Blush Spring 2012

There is no doubt the star product of the Chanel Spring 2012 Harmonie de Printemps collection is the Blush Horizon de Chanel.  However I couldn'y help but be disappointed that the pattern was again stripes, similar to Chanel Bronze Rosé from the 2011 Summer (and the stripes theme will continue for Summer 2012 as well).  My secret wish is for Chanel to make a camellia motif powder palette.

Patterns aside, this blush is impressive.  The powder is, as expected from Chanel, very soft & smooth.  The detailing is very well executed - no wonky lines like the old Nars eyeshadow trios.

The blush comes with a standard slanted brush in a separate velveteen pouch.  It is not bad quality-wise but I prefer using my Shu Uemura blush brush with this blush, as the slanted brush tends to mess up the stripes.  The powder is soft enough to be picked up by patting gently with my brush rather than a swiping motion.  The slanted brush allows more precision if you want to pick up a particular colour (eg the highlight shade at the bottom) by holding the brush horizontally.

This blush can be used in a few ways - the colour depends on which part of the powder you swipe on.  The top half is more of a candy pink, while the bottom half is a softer pink with coral/peach.  Swiping on the darker stripe produces a strawberry/plum colour.  All the colours have subtle shimmer.

Left to right: From top of the palette - candy pink, strawberry plum, (more peachy toned) pink, peachy pink highlight

When mixed together the result is is very pretty peachy pink.

Blush Horizon de Chanel is lovely but it retails for £46 in the UK.  Based on the price I'd say this blush is a nice to have but not a must buy - I personally think the colour, whilst very flattering, is very dupe-able.  What you are paying for is the superior texture and the ease of which the blush blends into your skin.

  1. Thank you for the lovely pictures and review! I'm back & forth with the entire Chanel Spring collection to be honest. There are some nice products, but nothing is making me rush out to buy... of course I am going to be kicking myself if I wait any longer, and the blush ends up being sold out D:

  2. You're welcomed! Yes that is always the case isn't it - Non-buyer's regret!
I think some products are very missable (eg the glossimers, they always look the same?) and some are quite nice, but not must haves unless you're a collector. Or a beauty blogger.
